What Can I Do With All These Darn Fall Leaves?
David Oblas
|
October 23, 2018
|
6 Minute Read
I love a good maple tree in the fall. Especially the Sugar Maple, with it’s bright orange flaring colors. That’s why we chose to plant one 6 years ago after our wedding in October. It’s our wedding tree. We love it. But Oh. My. God. The amount of leaves that drop from it! Like, really? It’s still a sapling by maple tree standards, but between it, and our neighbor’s gigantic Oak tree in their front yard, sometimes we can barely see grass in that corner of our lawn.

What does it take to start a lawn care business? Some guys would say go buy a commercial zero turn mower and some handheld equipment. To add, they might tell you to go buy a 7x14 trailer and a dually truck to haul everything around. All of these are things you could eventually go out and buy, but you shouldn't go into debt to start out a lawn care business. I hope to share my experience so you can be on your way to having your own idea of what you are really need to do to start a lawn care bu

Natural Ways To Keep Deer Out Of Your Garden
David Oblas
|
August 26, 2018

5 Minute Read
Deer are beautiful creatures. People tend to stop what they are doing, and just watch for awhile when they see a deer grazing in a field. I, myself, am guilty of pulling over on the local roads to point out herds of deer to my daughter. A couple of poorly answered questions later (“Where do they live?”, “Why are they watching us, too?”, “How do they know where to cross the street?”), and we’re back to driving. Deer are great from a distance. But then they show up in your back yard. In

With summer in full swing, everyone in your neighborhood is out grilling up their steaks, chicken, and burgers. Amazing side dishes are flying off grills everywhere, like corn on the cob, sliced zucchinis, and baked potatoes. But the grill isn’t just for your main course and sides anymore. Keep the coals rolling for some delicious grilled fruit for dessert! I’ve always had a healthy(?) obsession appreciation for peaches, whether I’m eating them fresh, baking them into a sweet ga

Elevate Your Gardening Game By Growing In Hanging Baskets
David Oblas

4 Minute Read
Bro, do you even lift? Boost your floral impact. Level up your plants. Uplift your patio garden. Raise the roots. Great, we got a bunch of hanging basket related puns up and out of the way (that’s the last one... because these plants are over it). Hanging baskets are the unappreciated heroes of the patio. Whether suspended from a shepherd’s hook above your perennial flower bed, or dangling from that one random hook on the underside of your pergola, hanging baskets extend your

This year, your yard isn't just an accessory to boost your curb appeal, it is an extension of your home to be enjoyed in these simple, healthy, and functional ways. SIMPLE While a beautiful yard takes effort, this is the year to work smarter not harder. For the same reason I don't give my 5 year old a show stopping fade, I favor the low maintenance plants. <img src="https://kujo-yardwear.s3.amazonaws.com/fadedhaircut-2020yardtrends-ec176d6dfb.jpg" alt="Faded Boy Haircut

Ignore the Recalls — Grow Your Own Romaine Lettuce
David Oblas

4 Minute Read
With romaine lettuce back on the shelves in most grocery stores, and the CDC investigation winding down (it’s still ongoing as of this writing), it makes me wonder... why aren’t more people growing their own lettuce? We could have all been eating Caesar salads this whole time! In 2018, the US saw 2 major E. coli outbreaks related to romaine lettuce. The first outbreak, with illnesses starting on March 13, was traced back to <a href

If you're looking to maximize your curb appeal it's time to look at your shrubs and bushes. Even the most presidential houses know it's all about the shrubs! However, unkempt bushes transform a once pristine yard into a neglected green space. With a quick prune, your yard will be looking crisp and your shrubbery healthy. Just by keeping up with your shrubs and bushes, you'll maintain that manicured look and keep the

How to safely use an extension ladder
Craig Martin
|
June 11, 2019
|
2 Minute Read
Some thoughts on how to safely use an extension ladder. Identify where the power lines are before you pick up your ladder. Make sure you are vigilant when walking around with the ladder. To carry an extension ladder, stand it upright, and then grab the rung with your dominate hand just below your reach, and tilt the ladder back on that shoulder. The ladder will be mostly upright and is easy to walk with and maneuver. If you need to go under something (eg, po
